Job description

Overview

Develops new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems. Includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, and PLC logic. May work with support of more senior engineers. Works closely with the overall team to design systems meeting the product requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering.

Responsibilities
  1. Concept, design, develop and engineer products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needs.
  2. Collaborate and review with others on the development team to develop products.
  3. Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operations.
  4. Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost.
  5. Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipment.
  6. Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication.
  7. Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs.
  8. Maintain product development schedules and cost estimates.
  9. Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control.
  10. Perform prototype development and testing.
  11. Perform on-site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are met.
  12. Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause.
  13. Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  3. Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design required.
  4. Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools required.
  5. Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design including execution of risk assessments required.
  6. Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA.
  7. Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCs.
  8. Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical.
  9. Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Team-oriented and collaborative.
  12. Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  13. Ability to learn new technologies.
  14. Self-motivated.
  15. Ability to work non-traditional hours.
