Daifuku North America seeks a 2nd Shift Lead to manage the Phillipsburg, NJ site’s operations. The role emphasizes PLC-based control, mechanical aptitude, and leadership of a maintenance-focused team in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires overseeing evening shift activities (5:00 PM–2:00 AM), ensuring reliability of material handling systems, and collaborating with facilities to drive performance improvements and safety compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• Must be local to Phillipsburg, NJ.
• Hands-on PLC experience required.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Willing to work 5:00 PM–2:00 AM, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems (PLC/PC controllers, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems).
• Act as first level escalation support for the maintenance teams.
• Monitor MHE metrics and partner with facilities/operations for system performance issues.
• Apply subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic systems to maximize building utilization of systems.
• Perform and Utilize FC System Assessments to assess material handling system performance.
• Coordinate with Facility Operations leadership, equipment vendors and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations and act as the technical consultant for capital projects.

Job Summary

As a 2nd Shift Lead under indirect supervision/assistance, this position is responsible for the business, financial and customer service activities of the site.

• Apply subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic systems to maximize building utilization of systems.


• Perform and Utilize FC System Assessments to assess material handling system performance.


• Partner with Facility Operations leadership, equipment vendors and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations. Act as the technical consultant for capital projects inside the building.


• Utilize FC network support resources for guidance and assistance, and provide assistance to peers, as needed.


• Communicate technical issues and project timelines with building leadership, operations and the maintenance team. Explain production impacts and work closely with operations and engineering to ensure a thorough understanding of impact to systems.


• Train and develop CSTs on controls systems concepts and procedures


• Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization.


• Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance


• Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company.


• Compliance with all safety programs, policies and procedures.


• Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Documented evidence of Project management or Organizational Development Experience,


• Minimum 2 years leadership experience or


• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a service industry or


• Minimum 2 years’ experience in preparing and managing budgets


• Combined 3 years’ experience in above three areas if minimum 2 years in any one cannot be met.


• Supervisory experience in an Airport environment
