Job summary

BigBear.ai is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design and operate the government cloud foundation across compute, storage, and networking. You will own IaC deployment (Terraform) and ensure secure, scalable infrastructure for IL5 operations.

This is a remote role with travel within the DMV area. A TS clearance and 5+ years of government cloud experience are expected, with strong emphasis on Kubernetes and secure networking. Join a mission-driven team in a high-security environment.

Qualifications

• Top Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree with 8–10 years' experience (or 6–8 with a Master's).
• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure engineering experience in a government cloud environment.
• Experience provisioning multi-service infra supporting multiple database paradigms.
• Strong Terraform skills and configuration management discipline.
• Hands-on with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government and secure networking patterns.
• Solid Kubernetes foundation and cluster support.
• Experience in IL5 compliance tooling and DoD environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, provision, and operate core cloud infrastructure in GovCloud or Azure Government.
• Build and maintain polyglot data platform infrastructure and sizing patterns.
• Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform) for repeatable provisioning across environments.
• Own network design and operations (VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, security groups, private connectivity).
• Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to ensure performant, HA, recoverable database services.
• Support Kubernetes infrastructure needs in coordination with the platform team.
• Implement IL5-aligned controls and continuous compliance tooling.
• Establish operational readiness: monitoring, runbooks, capacity planning, and incident response.
