Job description

IHC Technician (Evening shift 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm) is responsible for applying a working knowledge of designated IHC technician duties to support daily histology workload under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Operations.

Responsibilities

• Must be available for a 10:30 pm - 7:00 am shift M-F, with weekend availability as needed
• Perform routine antibody staining
• Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures
• Perform antibody and equipment validations
• Operate automated IHC stainers and cover slippers
• Troubleshoot quality issues
• Create and/or monitor essential documents through daily operation
• Exchange instrument-specific reagents at designated intervals
• Complete instrument-specific QC documentation when applicable
• Proper handling and disposal of chemical waste
• Immediately notify supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation
• QC/QA of all antibodies
• Notify appropriate personnel of existing and/or potential problems
• Maintain accurate work records (e.g., Maintenance Logs, Temperature Logs)
• Evaluate new equipment and procedures
• Review slides for overall quality of preparation (staining intensity, proper coverslipping, artifacts)

Position Requirements

• Bachelors degree in a scientific field preferred
• Tech-savvy, fast learner. Knowledge of a proprietary digital LIMS system
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• HTL or QIHC licenses, a plus
• Experience working in biotech preferred
• Knowledge of IHC – Special Stains
