Job summary

HistoWiz, based in New York City, seeks an IHC Technician for day shifts to support histology workflows and data management on PathologyMapTM. You will perform antibody staining, routine maintenance, and QC under the guidance of the Director of Laboratory Operations, contributing to fast, reliable turnaround times.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, are tech-savvy, and communicate clearly, with HTL/QIHC licenses considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in scientific field preferred.
• Tech-savvy and fast learner; experience with a proprietary digital LIMS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• HTL or QIHC licenses, a plus.
• Experience in biotech preferred; knowledge of IHC – Special Stains.

Responsibilities

• Apply working knowledge of IHC duties to complete daily Histology workload.
• Perform routine antibody staining and QA/QC of antibodies.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures and validations.
• Operate automated IHC stain and cover slipper(s).
• Troubleshoot quality issues and document results.
• Maintain accurate work records (e.g., maintenance, temperature logs).
• Notify supervisory personnel of malfunctions or potential problems.
• Review slides for staining quality and artifacts.

We process tissue specimens and digitize all of the results, hosting our client’s data on a proprietary platform, PathologyMapTM . This platform not only enables industry-leading turnaround time for diagnosis, but also online viewing, sharing and search. We are looking for highly motivated IHC Technician (Day shift 8:30 am - 5 pm) to join our fast-growing team. Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Laboratory Operations, the IHC Technician will effectively apply a working knowledge and skill of designated IHC Technician-related duties and tasks, in support of the Department as a whole, to complete the daily assigned Histology workload.

Requirements

• Must be available for a 8:30 am - 5 pm shift M-F, with weekend availability as needed
• Perform “routine” antibody staining
• Perform “routine” preventive maintenance procedures
• Perform antibody and equipment validations
• Operation of automated IHC stain and cover slipper(s)
• Troubleshoot quality issues
• Create and/or monitor essential documents through the daily operation
• Exchange instrument specific reagents at designated intervals
• Timely completion of instrument specific QC documentation when applicable
• Proper handling and disposal of chemical waste
• Immediate notification to supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation
• QC/QA of all antibodies
• Immediate notification of existing and/or potential problems to the proper authority
• Maintain accurate work records (i.e., Maintenance Logs, Temperature Logs, etc.)
• Evaluate new equipment and procedures
• Review slides for overall quality of preparation such as staining intensity, proper cover slipping and stain artifacts

Position Requirements:
