GOTAFE in Tempe, AZ seeks an Environmental Field Technician to conduct indoor air quality surveys, collect and prepare samples for lab analysis, and assist with report preparation. You will document methods, results, and recommendations, and maintain field equipment including moisture meters, infrared cameras, and IAQ meters.

The role requires proper PPE usage, ability to travel locally up to 50%, and the flexibility to work off-hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required and able to meet DISA/Drug-Alcohol testing qualifications.
• Pursuing an associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or certificate in industrial hygiene, project planning, management, environmental sciences, engineering, construction, architecture, or related field is preferred.
• Ability to write legibly, take field notes, follow instructions, and apply critical thinking.
• Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other PPE as needed.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Conduct indoor air quality, microbial, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials surveys.
• Collect environmental and personal samples for analysis and prepare them for shipment to laboratories.
• Take detailed field notes and photographs to assist project managers with report preparation.
• Prepare chain-of-custody documents, record survey data legibly, and compose detailed sample location maps.
• Prepare reports detailing survey/project information including methodology, results, and recommendations.
• Use standard equipment such as hand tools, pumps, moisture meters, infrared cameras, and IAQ meters.
• Calibrate and use field instruments, download data, clean, and maintain equipment.
• Drive company or rental vehicles; requires valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Travel locally, regionally, and occasionally out-of-state.
• Work off-hours and weekends periodically as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations and industry trends.
• Communicate effectively with Senior Project/Project Managers, staff, clients, and contractors.
• Study reference materials and participate in training and development activities.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Working toward an associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or certificate in industrial hygiene, project planning, management, environmental sciences, engineering, construction, architecture, occupational health, or related science field preferred.

• Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
• Ability to travel locally up to 50% and have reliable transportation.
• Candidate must be located in Arizona.
