Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Special Education Specialist to coordinate evaluations and the implementation of IEP team services, including scheduling and facilitating collaboration with pathway supervisors, instructional staff, support staff, and parents/guardians of students with IEPs.

The role ensures adherence to district procedures and state/federal requirements, supports data analysis, responds to families, and serves as a liaison to other district staff by providing information

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with special education endorsement.
Previous successful Special Education teaching experience.
Knowledge of the Michigan state standards related to Special Education.
Commitment to Lansing School District’s mission and vision.
Master's degree in special education or related field (preferred).
At least five years of previous special education teaching or related experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

Scheduling, coordination, and implementation of evaluations and IEP team services.
Collaboration with pathway supervisors, instructional and support staff, and parents/guardians of students with IEPs.
Act as a liaison to other district staff and provide resources/information regarding special education programs and services.
Ensure established district procedures are followed in alignment with state and federal requirements.
Data analysis and responding to parents/guardians and others supporting a student’s IEP.
