Job summary

Qualifications

• Education level must meet federal, state and local guidelines.
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree required or passing of the GACE Ethics and Paraprofessional assessments.
• Certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

• Uses appropriate instructional strategies and techniques to support learning.
• Provide support to selected students in resource, self-contained and/or regular classroom settings.
• Assist and adhere to plans or accommodations as required by IEP, behavior plan, healthcare plan, etc.
• Assist with special duties to meet the needs of specific student populations, including safety and supportive care.
• Assist students/teachers in using hardware, software, and other technology including assistive technology.
• Provide feedback on student performance to appropriate personnel.
• Conduct small group or individual activities based on teacher plans.
• Assist with student assessment, grading, and data collection.
• Assist with preparation of materials for instruction and classroom setup.
• Locate, operate and return needed equipment; supervise students in classroom and on buses.
• Follow scheduling and attendance requirements; participate in training and safety initiatives.
• Review current developments related to job responsibilities; ensure compliance with laws and policies.
