Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a Paraeducator – Cross Categorical (including ELL) at Canton Middle School to support students with IEPs in a structured classroom setting. You will work under direct supervision of a certified staff member to implement instructional activities and help maintain a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with lessons, preparing materials, supervising students, documenting behavior, and collaborating with teachers on IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Para Educator License is required.
• 60 semester hours of college coursework or passing ETS Para Pro exam or two Work Keys exams.
• Experience with students in an educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified teacher with instructional lessons for IEP students.
• Prepare and maintain instructional materials.
• Escort students within the building.
• Document student behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher on IEP-related tasks.
• Attend staff meetings and staff development activities.
• Follow established behavioral programs and procedures.
• Lift and assist with students as needed.
