Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. seeks an IEP Specialist to join our team and coordinate the educational program alongside the Director and resource team. You will mentor classroom staff and collaborate with school departments to implement effective instructional plans.

You will recruit and onboard campus staff, manage IEPs and data, and lead professional development sessions while ensuring ISBE compliance and strong family partnerships.

Qualifications

• Current SPED Teaching license or Principal License.
• Experience with similar population in a school setting preferred.
• Experience coaching staff.
• Strong professional communication skills both oral and written.
• Ability to record and analyze data utilizing Excel and Google Drive.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with classroom staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs and determine student assignment in regards to special education programs.
• Assist Principal with recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding new campus staff members.
• Develop and implement transition planning and services/Indicator 13.
• Maintain IEP database and student file scan database.
• Prepare and attend students’ IEP meetings, assure documentation is accurately completed prior to the meeting and provide on-going monitoring to ensure ISBE compliance of students’ IEPs.
• Plan and implement staff and parent education relating to special education programs.
• Maintains close working relationship with school district, parents and community.
• Provide and monitor crisis intervention at the school.
• Organize, plan and deliver training for professional development and staff meetings.
• Actively participate in Education Committee meetings and relay information to the resource team.

The IEP Specialist will work closely with the Director and resource team to coordinate and evaluate the educational program. The Instructional Specialist will act as a mentor and resource to the classroom staff and work closely with all departments on implanting the educational programs. In conjunction with the school Director, this position will be a key player in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and overseeing the onboarding of new staff.
