Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 in Elgin, IL is seeking a Paraeducator Cross Categorical (including ELL) to support students with IEPs under the supervision of a certified staff member. This 10-month position follows district policies and emphasizes confidentiality and professionalism.

Duties include delivering instructional support, implementing goals for mainstream/IEP students, assisting with behavioral plans, preparing materials, documenting progress, and collaborating with teachers.

Qualifications

• Para Educator license required or 60 college hours or passing ETS Para Pro exam or Work Keys.
• Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred; some assignments require bilingual.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual or small group instructional lessons under the supervision of a certified teacher.
• Familiarize self with goals/objectives for mainstream/IEP students in the classroom.
• Facilitate implementation of functional community-based curriculum as assigned.
• Follow through on set behavioral programs and procedures.
• Document student behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher, prepare and maintain materials.
• Escort students within the building, as directed by the classroom teacher
• Work cooperatively with the classroom teacher by assisting with any related activity specific to the students' IEP.
• Lift, transfer, position, toilet, etc. (this is special skills only)
• Provide input to the classroom teacher regarding student-para interactions.
• Attend staff meetings and staff development activities as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
