Job summary

Circle is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our identity and access platform. You will set the technical direction for authentication, authorization, and agent identity, while managing a team of backend and frontend engineers through critical migrations and platform changes.

You will collaborate with Security and Product teams, drive architectural decisions, and ensure production systems are secure and scalable.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing software engineers, including hiring and performance management.
• Led a team through a major migration, re-platforming, or architecture change.
• Deep identity or authorization experience with hands-on building of identity/auth systems at scale.
• Background may include OAuth 2.x/OIDC, SAML/SSO, session and token design, API credentials, service or workload identity, MFA or passkeys, or policy engines.
• Strong architectural judgment with ability to explain trade-offs and migrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Circle’s identity platform.
• Manage, coach, and grow a team of backend and frontend engineers.
• Lead technical designs, review code paths, and debug production issues with the team.
• Collaborate with Security, Product, Onboarding, Risk, and other engineering teams to align identity work with business goals.
• Oversee planning, migrations, cutovers, rollback plans, and status reporting; drive reliable platform capabilities.
