Job summary

Alameda County Sheriff's Office Identification Supervisors oversee a shift or unit within the Central Identification Bureau, supervising Latent and Tenprint examiners and support staff. They assign and review daily work, ensure adherence to unit policies, and coordinate forensic identifications and related duties under supervision.

This role requires experience in fingerprint processing, a strong background in Latent/Tenprint supervision, and the ability to work diverse shifts, including

Job description

The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the classification of Senior Latent Fingerprint Examiner in the County of Alameda classified service. Full-time experience must include actual processing of fingerprint records or latent casework without training supervision.


OR II


Experience:


The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in the classification of Latent Fingerprint Examiner or Senior Fingerprint Examiner in the County of Alameda classified service. Full-time experience must include actual processing of fingerprint records or latent casework without training supervision.


OR III


Experience:


The equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in the classification of Fingerprint Examiner in the County of Alameda classified service. Full-time experience must include actual processing of fingerprint records or latent casework without training supervision.


OR IV


Experience:


The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in a classification equivalent to or higher than Latent Fingerprint Examiner or Senior Fingerprint Examiner, in any law enforcement agency which provides Tenprint and Latent identification services, including at least one (1) year of supervisory, senior, or lead experience in the forensic area.


Special Requirement:



  • Incumbents must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, and must be available to work overtime when necessary.

  • Vision: Using both eyes, must have far vision of at least 20/100 without glasses, correctable to 20/20 with glasses. Must have near vision, as measured by optometric examination, sufficient to perform fingerprint identification, classification, and related duties.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to type 40 words per minute.

  • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation.

Description

Identification Supervisors are assigned to a shift or serve as the administrative IDS, performing related work as required. The classification of Identification Supervisor is a first-line supervisor and a Custodian of Records that assigns, reviews, and coordinates the daily work assignments of their assigned technical and support personnel. Assignments for IDS include Tenprint and Latent supervisory duties to maintain the Unit’s policies, identifications, and functions. Under general supervision, an Identification Supervisor (IDS) supervises Latent and Tenprint examiners and technical and support personnel in one (1) or more sections of the Central Identification Bureau (CIB).


Salary & Benefits

$50.37 - $60.95/hour; $104,769.60 - $126,776.00/year
