Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC in Hendersonville, TN, is seeking an IDD Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. You will provide holistic nursing care, assess health needs, and coordinate preventive medical services for our supported individuals.

We value independent, organized professionals with strong communication and CPR certification. The role reports to the Regional Nursing Director and offers a daytime schedule Monday–Friday with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program; BSN preferred but not required.
  • Current RN license with no restrictions.
  • Effective communication with interdisciplinary team and families.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • CPR certification or eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Observe, assess, and evaluate health needs of people we support.
  • Coordinate preventive and routine medical care for people supported.
  • Document nursing care provided.
  • Provide clinical supervision for LPNs and med techs as needed.
  • Lead educational and training programs for new staff.
  • Promote workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics when applicable.
  • Provide health-related training to unlicensed personnel.
  • Teach medication administration training where state law allows.
  • Conduct medication pass observations and audits.
  • Perform routine nursing assessments and report abnormalities.
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, and the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Advocate for people supported and develop community supports.

Position Overview

We are hiring for: IDD Registered Nurse / RN

Type: Regular

Salary: $80,000.00 Annually/Based on experience

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p

Reports to: Regional Nursing Director

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the people we support.
  • Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported.
  • Document nursing care provided.
  • Provide clinical supervision or oversight for licensed practical nurses and med techs as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with educational and training programs for new employees to include planning, conducting, and scheduling in a timely manner.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable.
  • Provide health related training to unlicensed personnel.
  • Teach medication administration training to unlicensed personnel when state law allows.
  • Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency.
  • Complete skill competency checklists on delegated healthcare tasks.
  • Teach the people we serve to monitor their health.
  • Provide medication administration training to people who are able to self-administer medications.
  • Audit medication administration.
  • Conduct medication closest assessments.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health related tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct routine nursing assessments.
  • Observe and report any abnormal health related findings to the physician.
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program BSN preferred, but not required.
  • Current registered nurse license with no restrictions to practice nursing.
  • Possess credentials required by Federal or State law.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families.
  • Must be able to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to pull a minimum of 30 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Required to regularly stand and walk. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear.

  • Drug testing.
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required).
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
