Job summary

Family Solutions Practice Management Solutions is seeking a Medical-Surgical RN to provide direct patient care for adults recovering from illness, injury, or surgery in Idaho.

Qualified applicants hold an Idaho or compact-state RN license, current BLS and ACLS; PALS within one year is required. BSN preferred, prior medical-surgical experience is advantageous. Weekend, holiday, and rotating shifts are required to support patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adults recovering from illness, injury, or surgery.
• Coordinate and implement patient treatment plans with interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain high-quality, patient-centered nursing services per evidence-based practices.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy.
• Monitor vitals and patient progress; report changes promptly.
• Educate patients and families on treatment, discharge instructions, and health management.
• Document thoroughly in EMR.
• Ensure infection control and safety compliance.
• Assist with recovery post-surgery and manage chronic/acute conditions.
• Delegate tasks to nursing assistants and other staff.
• Mentor and support peers and new staff.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education.

• Provides direct patient care for individuals recovering from illness, injury, or surgery.
• Coordinates and implements patient treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered nursing services in accordance with current evidence-based practices and facility standards.
• Utilizes strong clinical judgment and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Administers medications, treatments, and IV therapy as ordered by physicians.
• Monitors patient vital signs, symptoms, and progress, and reports any changes promptly.
• Educates patients and families regarding treatment, discharge instructions, and health management.
• Maintains accurate and thorough documentation in electronic health records (EMR).
• Ensures compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Assists with patient recovery post-surgery, manages chronic and acute medical conditions, and responds to emergencies.
• Delegates and supervises tasks performed by nursing assistants, ESTs, and Unit Clerks.
• Provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
• Acts as a mentor, teacher, and resource for peers and new staff.
• Attends required staff meetings and participates in continuing education for professional growth.
• Maintains effective communication with diverse patient populations and healthcare professionals.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Required to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
• Maintains good physical, emotional, and mental health to meet job demands.
• Holds current RN license (Idaho or approved compact state), BLS, and ACLS certifications; PALS required within one year of hire.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred); prior medical-surgical experience preferred.
