Job summary

Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) seeks a CFSS I to support ICWA and Child Welfare efforts for local Tribes and families. You will collaborate with ICWA Advocates and Tribal attorneys to represent the Tribe’s position in CINA proceedings, ensuring culturally informed casework and adherence to Native Preference.

Must reside in the designated Alaska village, be willing to travel, and complete required background checks; High School diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must reside in the compacted village in which they are applying.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
• Public Law 101-630 background check, fingerprint process, and Compliance Application required.

Responsibilities

• Advocacy: participate in meetings, home visits, and act as liaison between OCS, Advocates, and families.
• Case Management: prepare court documents, share information with Tribal Council, monitor progress toward case plan.
• Foster Home Recruitment: inform community, assist with applications, maintain list of prospective foster/adoptive homes.
• Prevention: coordinate activities to engage parents and youth, participate in local events to support community wellness.
