LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks Veterinary Technician 1, 2, or 3-SAICU to provide advanced nursing care in the Small Animal ICU. The role supports continuous patient monitoring, anesthesia recovery, triage, and teaching activities within the hospital.

Technicians assist with medications, venipuncture, catheter placement, ICU equipment operation, and daily data entry. Eligibility includes RVT licensing; LSU ensures a dynamic team environment and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; OR associate's degree in veterinary technology AND must be actively licensed with the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Responsabilités

• Assist with advanced nursing procedures and intensive care treatments for critically ill and hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing, administration, and documentation.
• Place and maintain intravenous catheters.
• Assist with venipuncture, cystocentesis, abdominal and thoracic fluid collection procedures, and other technical nursing procedures as directed.
• Operate and monitor life-support and intensive care equipment; monitor patient status and communicate changes to the team.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
• Assist with maintaining ICU readiness and daily census of patients and charges.
