Job summary

Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join the Critical Care Service at CUHA. The role supports clinicians, students, and house officers in caring for critically ill patients and coordinating advanced procedures.

Working with Intensive Care LVTs, you will contribute to a fast-paced, 24/7 academic hospital while supporting learning across services and ensuring compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in veterinary technology and at least 2 years of experience or equivalent combination.
• New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
• Robust clinical skillset including the ability to identify patients in crisis with immediate notification to clinician.
• Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students, clinicians, and peer technicians.
• Able to complete work fully and on time.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and clinicians assigned to the Critical Care Service with morning and afternoon patient physical examinations and treatments.
• Schedule, organize, set-up and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed on patients.
• Facilitate patient admission and discharge to and from patient care units on behalf of the Critical Care Service.
• Act as a mentor and teacher for students on rotation
• Provide floating backup coverage to the nursing care units and other services in the Companion Animal Hospital as determined and assigned by the supervisor.
