Job summary

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Critical Care Service within the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA). This role supports clinicians, house officers, and students in caring for critically ill patients and coordinating advanced diagnostics and procedures.

The position is onsite in Ithaca, NY, with options to mentor students, work with a team of Intensive Care LVTs, and contribute to a fast-paced academic

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in veterinary technology and at least 2 years of experience or equivalent combination.
• New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
• Robust clinical skillset including the ability to identify patients in crisis with immediate notification to clinician.
• Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students, clinicians, and peer technicians.
• Able to complete work fully and on time.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and clinicians assigned to the Critical Care Service with morning and afternoon patient physical examinations and treatments.
• Schedule, organize, set-up and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed on patients.
• Facilitate patient admission and discharge to and from patient care units on behalf of the Critical Care Service.
• Act as a mentor and teacher for students on rotation
• Provide floating backup coverage to the nursing care units and other services in the Companion Animal Hospital as determined and assigned by the supervisor.
