Job description

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is seeking full-time Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our ICU team on the overnight shift.

$10,000 overnight bonus available every 6 months for qualified candidates! *

Utilize your license to its fullest potential and grow your career with regular CE opportunities and VTS pathway support.

Work with Criticalists 7 days/week in a VECCS Level 1 hospital to provide advanced treatments like continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), total plasma exchange (TPE), Hi-Flo oxygen therapy, critical care ventilation and more.

Whether your credential is a CVT, LVT, or RVT we know you worked hard for your education and are excited to use it to support patients with top quality medicine. As part of the DoveLewis ICU team you will support high-acuity hospitalized patients, manage advanced cases under the supervision of board-certified Criticalists, and collaboratively provide interventions and treatments to patients across a wide range of specialties.

With so many ways to grow here, we want to know what growth looks like for you. That’s why one of your first conversations is with Chief Administrative Officer Monica Maxwell, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, MBTI, to discuss your career goals and what you’re looking for next, whether that’s growing your ECC skills, pursuing a VTS, exploring specialty medicine, or building a long-term career.

What you can look forward to at DoveLewis:

  • Advancing your emergency and critical care skills while working alongside a highly skilled team, including Certified Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS).
  • VTS pathway support for credentialed technicians seeking to specialize, with mentorship from experienced VTS team members.
  • Managing and assisting with advanced critical care treatments like CRRT, TPE, Hi-Flo oxygen therapy, and critical care ventilator management under the supervision of board-certified Criticalists.
  • Collaborating across multiple specialties, including ECC, Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Exotics, Hospice, Pain Management, Urgent Care, and Diagnostic Imaging.

Wage: This position qualifies for +15% overnight and +10-15% weekend differential pay on applicable shifts.

  • $32-$36 hourly for Certified Veterinary Technicians (or other license type that is transferable to Oregon)
  • $38-$44 hourly for Veterinary Technician Specialists
  • *$10,000 bonus available every 6 months
    • To qualify you must be a CVT working overnight ICU shifts with at least 3 years of ECC or 5 years total experience and strong advanced nursing skills (e.g. CRI calculations, NG tubes, extended differentials, and central lines). Staying in good standing and meeting attendance expectations keeps you eligible for this bonus.

Schedule: This is a full-time overnight position

Technicians in ECC work 3/4 rotating schedules with 10 hours shifts. This means you have a consistent schedule that makes planning the rest of your life easy so you can play and rest just as hard as you work.

Other Benefits + Compensation:

  • Equitable health benefits (medical, dental, vision, $0 mental health copays, LGBTQIA+ affirming care).
  • 403(b) retirement plan with company match and free financial advising
  • Student debt repayment assistance for all employees
  • Paid vacation, sick time, holiday pay, and bereavement leave (including time off when a pet family member passes away).
  • Continuing education support including license reimbursement, professional dues assistance, and access to atDove — over 100 hours of on-demand, RACE-approved CE content.
  • A nonprofit mission that makes your work meaningful every day.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

  • 3+ years of ECC or 5+ years total experience preferred (min. 2 years’ experience required)
  • Strong advanced nursing skills (e.g. CRI calculations, NG tubes, extended differentials, and central lines).
  • Adaptable, lifelong learners who are eager to face new challenges every day and actively participate in our teaching hospital culture.
  • A commitment to providing both patients and clients with the highest standard of care at a client-centered hospital.
  • The ability to handle stressful situations in a fast-paced environment with compassion, efficiency, and flexibility.
  • A genuine love and respect for all animals is essential, as is an appreciation for the human-animal bond.
  • Current status as a Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon OR currently Licensed Veterinary Technician OR Registered Veterinary Technician, or other form of credentialed veterinary nurse or technician elsewhere with the ability to transfer license to Oregon.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above.
