Job summary

Quakertown Veterinary Clinic in Quakertown, PA is seeking a Veterinary ICU Technician to join our 24-hour hospital. This full-time role focuses on high-level nursing care, close patient monitoring, and hands-on support for hospitalized, emergency, surgical, and critically ill patients.

You will work with veterinarians and experienced technicians, perform IV catheter placement, venipuncture, administer medications and fluids, obtain radiographs, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergency

Qualifications

• Previous ICU, emergency, specialty, or critical care experience.
• Strong patient assessment and nursing skills.
• Proficiency with IV catheter placement and venipuncture.
• Experience with hospitalized or critically ill patients.
• Knowledge of medications, fluid therapy, and advanced treatments.
• Ability to identify condition changes and communicate promptly.
• Experience assisting with emergency stabilization.
• Attention to detail and accurate medical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Complete regular patient assessments and communicate changes in condition to the medical team.
• Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture.
• Collect and prepare samples for diagnostic testing.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and CRIs as directed.
• Monitor fluid therapy and document intake/output.
• Perform in‑house laboratory testing.
• Obtain diagnostic radiographs and monitor ECG and vital signs.
• Provide oxygen therapy and supportive care.
• Assist veterinarians with emergency stabilization and critical procedures.
• Care for patients before and after surgery.
• Manage feeding tubes, urinary catheters, drains, and other devices.
• Assist with blood transfusions and monitor patients closely.
• Keep treatment sheets and medical records accurate and up to date.
• Communicate patient status and updates with the veterinary team.
• Maintain an organized, clean ICU and provide low-stress care.

Join Our Critical Care Team

Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is looking for a skilled Veterinary ICU Technician to join our 24‑hour hospital. This role is focused on providing high-level nursing care, close patient monitoring, and hands‑on support for hospitalized, emergency, surgical, and critically ill patients.

In This Role, You Will

• Provide ongoing nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients

• Manage feeding tubes, urinary catheters, drains, and other supportive devices
• Assist with blood transfusions and monitor patients closely
• Keep treatment sheets and medical records accurate and up to date
• Communicate patient status, concerns, and treatment updates with the veterinary team
• Help maintain an organized, clean, and well‑stocked ICU
• Provide compassionate, low‑stress care whenever possible

• Experience caring for hospitalized or critically ill patients
• Knowledge of medications, fluid therapy, and advanced treatments
• Ability to identify changes in patient condition and communicate concerns quickly
• Experience assisting with emergency stabilization
• Strong attention to detail and accurate medical documentation
• Ability to prioritize treatments and manage multiple patients
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• CVT, LVT, or RVT credentials are preferred, but not required
