MedVet in Worthington, OH is seeking a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician to support our emergency and specialty services, providing critical nursing care for hospitalized patients.

You will monitor patients, assist veterinarians, perform in-house lab tests, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and client education. A State Registered Veterinary Technician license is preferred and prior veterinary experience, especially in nursing or critical care, is valued.

We are looking for: Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identifypatient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary

• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients

• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures

• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures

• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)

• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
