Job summary

Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country is seeking an experienced ICU Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital in Boone, NC. This full-time position focuses on monitoring and managing hospitalized patients, supporting veterinarians, and delivering high-quality critical care.

The ideal candidate has ICU or emergency experience and strong nursing skills. RVT/CVT credentials are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary ICU or emergency medicine is required or preferred.
• Ability to monitor multiple hospitalized patients and respond quickly.
• Strong nursing-care and veterinary technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor multiple hospitalized and critical-care patients
• Perform frequent patient assessments and monitor vital signs
• Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture and blood collection
• Administer IV injections, medications, fluids, and treatments as directed
• Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, medications, and responses to care
• Provide compassionate, attentive nursing care throughout hospitalization
• Assist veterinarians with emergency treatments and procedures
• Support surgical procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
• Communicate patient updates and concerns clearly with veterinarians and teammates
• Collaborate closely with fellow technicians and assistants to prioritize patient needs
• Maintain organized, stocked, and clean ICU and treatment areas
• Help maintain efficient workflow while responding to changing patient-care priorities
