Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an ICU registered nurse for a night shift assignment in California. The role requires CA RN licensure and at least 2 years of ICU experience, with certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, plus MAB Training.

Responsibilities include 3x12-hour night shifts, 1:2 patient ratio, and using the Epic charting system while providing comprehensive ICU care and unit leadership.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS.
• MAB Training required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration.
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT).
• Experience with cardiac drip titration and vasoactive drip titration.
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting.
• Patient ratio of 1:2.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care across the full nursing process for ICU patients of varying ages, cultures, and conditions.
• Demonstrate leadership on the unit and participate in multidisciplinary patient care conferences.
• Serve as a patient advocate and collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams on care planning.
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing.
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates.
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning staff must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler.
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this assignment.
