Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week float pool assignment across multiple hospital campuses. The role requires 2+ years ICU experience and proficiency with A-lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, ventilators, telemetry, and IV starts.

Day shifts run 7:00 AM–7:00 PM (3x12h). RNs may float to EDIP within the ER; assignments include a comprehensive schedule and two weeks’ notice before shifts, across various campuses.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required at time of application.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required.
• Experience with A-lines and phlebotomy required (hard requirement).
• Experience with PICC lines, chest tubes, ventilators, telemetry, and IV starts required.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Pulmonary artery line and ICP experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• CPI Blue Card required in-hand for all float RNs.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• 13-week assignment in the ICU float pool, floating between multiple hospital campuses.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• May float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow) within the ER.
• Treats a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro, general, stroke, medical, surgical, kidney/liver transplant, and trauma cases.
• Schedule provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling.
• Facility assignment communicated via phone call 2 hours before each shift.
• Float RNs will work across multiple hospital locations based on census and unit needs.
• Up to 8 hours of non-billable orientation modules required, factored into a 12-hour workday.
• Permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted in the first 21 days.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates.
• Two supervisory/manager references required, with at least one from the specific unit within the last year.
