American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Stepdown position in Fort Smith, AR. This role requires 2+ years of specialty ICU Stepdown experience and proficiency in managing post-CV surgery and stroke patients.

The nurse will work in a 16-bed ICU Stepdown unit, with a 4:1 patient ratio, night shifts (3x12), and no-call requirements. Must have BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and be able to titrate cardiac drips; Airvo and EPIC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (AR or compact) required at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• 2+ years of recent ICU Stepdown experience required.
• Experience with post-CV surgery and post-stroke patient care required.
• Proficient in titrating cardiac drips including Nitro, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Esmolol.
• Experience with Bipap and Airvo use required.
• Must be able to recognize signs of a deteriorating patient.
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted.
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-bed ICU Stepdown unit within an acute care hospital.
• Patient population includes post-op, cardiovascular, neuro, full stroke, and respiratory cases requiring stepdown-level care.
• Maintains a 4:1 patient ratio.
• Utilizes Philips bedside monitors and Airvo equipment.
• Documents in EPIC.
• 12-hour night shifts on a 3x12 schedule.
• Works every other weekend.
• Floating required as needed.
• No call requirements.
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care to post-surgical, cardiac, neuro, and stroke patients.
• Collaborate with a team-oriented, supportive nursing staff.
• Black scrubs required; hoodies not permitted.
• Up to 5 days of RTO allowed, to be made up during the assignment.
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local.
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role.
