Job summary

UCI Health in Orange County is seeking a clinical nurse to join a highly collaborative team. The role requires delivering high‑quality patient care to a specific patient group and acting as a mentor to students and new nurses.

You will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, evaluate outcomes, and plan for discharge while maintaining flexibility to work evenings, nights, or weekends in a fast-paced academic health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience, with at least 2 years of recent Step-Down or ICU experience.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient throughout the continuum of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge; revise plan or make referrals as necessary.
• Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit.
• Functions as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
