Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Akron is seeking an ICU Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our Nursing department. The role involves charting, patient assessment, IV catheter placement and client education, with a Wed-Sat 10pm-8:30am schedule.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid State Registered Veterinary Technician license.
• Prior veterinary experience required; critical care experience preferred.
• Proficient with drug calculations, CRI rates, unit conversions, etc.
• Flexible with hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate with the patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and general wellness for hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
