Job summary

UAB Medicine’s 1South ICU in Birmingham, AL, is a Medical ICU with 18 beds. We pride ourselves on team cohesiveness and strong leadership availability. The unit welcomes new graduates and emphasizes teaching, ensuring teamwork and support for each other.

The registered nurse will provide direct nursing care per established policies, implement care plans, coordinate multidisciplinary care, carry out orders, and assist with discharge planning as part of a collaborative health care team.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Education

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire
