Job summary

UAB Medicine’s CVICU in Birmingham seeks an RN to provide direct patient care in the CVICU, particularly during night shifts. The role emphasizes coordination of multidisciplinary care, adherence to policies, and active discharge planning involvement.

Qualified applicants will hold a nursing diploma, Alabama RN licensure, and be certified in BLS and ACLS within specified timelines. A dynamic, growth‑oriented team environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing.
• Licensed as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire date.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
