Job summary

St. Francis Medical Center, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks an ICU RN to monitor critically ill and unstable patients after injury, surgery or life-threatening disease.

Report from a nursing teammate before rounds; provide ongoing care per the care plan and stay focused while continuously monitoring patients. You will rely on multitasking, vigilance, and teamwork as you monitor patients throughout your shift in our 16-bed ICU, a designated stroke center serving Grand Island and surrounding

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• RN license in Nebraska.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• ACLS within five months of hire.
• PALS within five months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use; utilizes safeguards such as IV pump and monitor alarms when necessary.
• Initiates emergency support measures.
• Assists with patient care duties/tasks.

Graduate of a nursing program

RN license in Nebraska

Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 5 months

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 5 months

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our ICU RN at St. Francis Medical Center, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease. Every day, you will take a report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. To thrive in this vital role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift.

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort


• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families


• Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients


• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use; utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms when necessary


• Initiates emergency support measures


• Assists with patient care duties/tasks

We are offering up to $6,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 educational assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Graduate of a nursing program


• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska


• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required


• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within five(5) months of hire


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within five(5) months of hire

Where You'll Work

We are a 16 bed ICU that cares for wide variety of critically ill patients with renal, cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, neuro‑surgical, endocrine, GI, and surgical conditions. We are a designated stroke center and we care for a diverse population of patients, pulling from multiple areas of the state.
