Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Registered Nurse for ICU-level patient care on night shifts, delivering care via the nursing process. You will mentor staff, educate patients and families, and communicate patient changes with physicians.

Privacy and confidentiality are mandatory in all interactions. Requirements include active RN license, BLS, ACLS, and preferred CC RN/BSN; prior critical care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Critical Care Course preferred.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
• CCRN Certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Direct patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU.
• Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients.
• Communicate with the physician about changes in patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring and diagnostic results.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
