Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to provide routine patient care on rotating days/nights with weekend/holiday coverage. The position offers a pay range of $18.00–$23.50 per hour and includes a 12-hour day/night shift schedule.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, meal assistance, specimen handling, coordinating appointments, and related clerical tasks while maintaining confidentiality and safety. Sign-on bonus eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license required.
• Able to communicate effectively and work with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, entering diet information into the computer system, passing meal trays, feeding and attending to other care needs.
• Greets all persons, answers inquiries, directs and assists, relays messages, and assists with gifts, flowers and mail for patients.
• Ambulates patients and assists with transfers, measures intakes/outputs, and transports as needed.
• Answers telephone, operates paging system, and assists during emergencies.
• Prepares requisitions for diagnostic/therapeutic services and coordinates appointments.
• Requests services such as Chaplain, social services, and pastoral care.
• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharge, chart preparation, transfers and related tasks.
• Maintains patient rooms and handles interdepartmental/patient mail.
