Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nurses in a hospital setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will measure and document vital signs, assist with daily activities, and help maintain patient comfort and safety.

This PRN, hourly role requires a high school diploma or GED and strong communication and organizational skills. You will work in the ICU area and collaborate with care teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patient with everyday needs (hygiene, restroom, grooming).
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition.
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies.
• Provide emotional support to patients.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor.
• Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags.
• Perform blood sugar checks.
• Assist with other department duties as assigned.
