Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Patient Care Assistant provides basic patient care and operational support for hospitalized emergency, critical care, and specialty patients. This position assists the nursing team with patient handling, transport, husbandry, facility upkeep, and routine support tasks while helping maintain a safe, clean, and efficient hospital environment.

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in:

• Assisting with feeding, watering, and walking patients as directed
• Provide basic patient care and comfort measures
• Assist with patient restraint and handling during exams, treatments, and procedures

Education/Experience:

Basic level of horse handling experience required. Preference given to those with experience working in veterinary medicine.

Ability to appropriately chart patient parameters, subjective observations, and independently utilize provided resources for standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from managers, doctors, and clients.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions.

Computer Skills:

Computer literacy in common computer software programs.

Special Skills:

Equine restraint/handling and horsemanship skills.
