Job summary

CSU Veterinary Health System in Fort Collins, CO is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant I for the Equine Medicine and Critical Care teams. You will support technicians and patients in the Large Animal hospital, focusing on equine care across critical care, medicine, surgery and lameness services, with potential to float to other large animal sections as needed.

The role requires basic knowledge of medical procedures, biosecurity, and equipment handling.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of equine handling experience.
• Experience in an equine hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing efficient, optimal patient care including triage, assessment, treatments, monitoring, and restraint.
• Collaborate with interns, residents, faculty, and technicians to ensure appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide clinical and technical assistance such as fluid and drug administration, IV sampling, blood gas collection, and equipment setup/breakdown.
