Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's St. Luke's Health–Memorial Lufkin is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Float/Flex Team. The RN provides individualized, high-quality patient care, performs assessments, and implements care plans within an interdisciplinary team to promote positive outcomes.

Requirements include an Associate Degree in Nursing with RN licensure and 1 year of RN experience; BLS within 14 days and ACLS within 6 months are preferred. BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing and RN license are required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered nursing care on the Float/Flex Team.
• Perform assessments, formulate goals, and implement care plans.
• Document in patient records per standards to ensure quality care.
• Educate patients and families on pain management, nutrition, skin integrity, fall prevention, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Support research activities and quality improvement initiatives.

• Utilizes the nursing process to ensure appropriate patient care is provided in a cost effective, quality driven, and patient focused manner. Collects pertinent social, psychological, developmental and spiritual data from the patient, significant others and other health care team members.
• Performs as ongoing assessment, formulates nursing diagnosis and goals, plans appropriate interventions, and evaluates the outcome of the interventions.
• Consistently documents in the patient and unit records according to written health system standards of care in order to meet legal and quality patient care requirements.
• Provides appropriate teaching and information to patients and families including information on Pain Management, Nutrition, Skin Integrity, Fall prevention, Diabetes, Disease Process, Smoking Cessation, and Discharge instructions
• Demonstrates commitment to the goals and values of the patient, Hospital, community and nursing profession through cost containment measures, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate ethical decision -making, and ensuring patient safety.
• Uses interventions substantiated by research as appropriate in the patient population, Participates in research activities, identifies opportunities for research, and collaborates with the Outcomes managers and department.
