Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse on our Float/Flex Team to provide compassionate, high‑quality care, perform assessments, and implement patient care plans in a fast‑paced, patient‑first environment.

You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, use critical thinking, and educate patients and families on pain management, nutrition, skin integrity, and discharge instructions, while advancing your nursing career.

Qualifications

  • Associates Of Science Nursing and at least one year of RN experience.
  • TX RN licensure upon hire and CPR within 14 days.
  • BSN preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process for cost-effective, quality patient care.
  • Performs ongoing assessments, diagnoses, plans, and evaluates interventions.
  • Documents in patient records per health system standards.
  • Provides teaching on Pain Management, Nutrition, Skin Integrity, Fall prevention, Diabetes, and discharge.
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient safety and confidentiality, ethical decisions.
  • Participates in research activities with Outcomes managers and department.

  • Utilizes the nursing process to ensure appropriate patient care is provided in a cost effective, quality driven, and patient focused manner. Collects pertinent social, psychological, developmental and spiritual data from the patient, significant others and other health care team members.
  • Performs as ongoing assessment, formulates nursing diagnosis and goals, plans appropriate interventions, and evaluates the outcome of the interventions.
  • Consistently documents in the patient and unit records according to written health system standards of care in order to meet legal and quality patient care requirements.
  • Provides appropriate teaching and information to patients and families including information on Pain Management, Nutrition, Skin Integrity, Fall prevention, Diabetes, Disease Process, Smoking Cessation, and Discharge instructions.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the goals and values of the patient, Hospital, community and nursing profession through cost containment measures, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate ethical decision‑making, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Uses interventions substantiated by research as appropriate in the patient population, participates in research activities, identifies opportunities for research, and collaborates with the Outcomes managers and department.

  • Associates Of Science Nursing and At least one (1) year of RN experience; upon hire and
  • Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire and
  • Registered Nurse: TX, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days

  • Bachelors Of Science Nursing, upon hire
