Job summary

Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks an Inpatient Veterinary Technician to support the IMC, ICU, and ER sections of the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital. This monthly rotating swing shift role works with IMC clinicians and rotating interns to ensure quality care and smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, assisting with CPR and other critical care procedures, and helping with after-hours triage.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related field that qualifies for certification.
• Level II requires 2 years of veterinary hospital experience.
• Level III requires 4 years of veterinary hospital experience.
• Substitutions allowed: degrees may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administering treatments and monitor IMC/ICU/ER patients; record vital data and animal intake.
• Perform veterinary care techniques related to emergency and critical care medicine.
• Assist with CPR, mechanical ventilation and dialysis as needed.
• Inspect facilities, equipment, and sanitation daily and monitor environmental conditions.
• Provide care after hours, on weekends and holidays; assist with emergency triage and stabilization.
• May assist with billing and inputting charges.
