Job summary

Merit Health Central in Mississippi seeks a Director of the Intensive Care Unit to provide strategic and operational leadership for the ICU, overseeing staffing, budgeting, quality improvement and service line development. This role carries 24-hour accountability for ICU operations.

The successful candidate will partner with multidisciplinary teams to drive patient outcomes, enhance staff engagement, implement evidence-based practice, and advance critical care services across the hospital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required OR 7+ years of direct leadership experience in lieu of degree.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with budgeting and financial oversight desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of ICU services for adults and geriatrics.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics.
• Direct recruitment, hiring, and professional development of ICU staff.
• Establish and enforce clinical practice standards and evidence-based care.
• Develop policies for ICU operations and disaster preparedness.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to market critical care services and educational programs.
• Coordinate staff education and training on new equipment and procedures.
• Ensure 24-hour accountability for ICU operations and problem resolution.
