Job summary

Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT seeks an RN leader to support the Director of Patient Care Services in developing and monitoring the patient care delivery system and nursing practice standards, ensuring quality, patient experience, and alignment with the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities include planning and evaluating nursing practice, mentoring staff, ensuring training, managing resources and finances, and collaborating with physicians and leaders to sustain safe, high‑level care.

Qualifications

• BSN or advanced degree in nursing required (or completion within 1 year).
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or related fields preferred.
• 3 years of relevant clinical experience with 2 years of leadership experience.
• Nursing Certification in leadership or related specialty preferred.
• Membership in a Healthcare/Nursing professional organization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and evaluates nursing practice standards on the unit.
• Assumes 24/7 accountability for supervision to ensure safe, quality care.
• Provides mentoring, coaching, feedback and fosters teamwork.
• Enforces training requirements and ensures timelines are met.
• Leads the department towards strategic growth targets.
• Manages department finances and analyzes data for decisions.
• Facilitates cross‑disciplinary communication with physicians and leaders.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and quality/safety initiatives.
• Creates an environment supporting service excellence and staff development.
• Promotes open communication for effective operations.
• Supports shared governance and mentors nursing staff.
• Additional duties as assigned.
