Danbury Hospital in New Milford seeks a Nursing Administrator to manage the nursing and operational functions on varied shifts and to support the overall care delivery of the Nursing Department in coordination with the Nurse Managers.

The role maintains the schedule in the absence of the Nurse Manager and directs patient care in the absence of leadership, contributing to budget goals and participating in compliance and staff education. It requires leadership and communication across departments.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership, critical thinking and communication skills; must problem solve and resolve conflicts across departments.
• Minimum Experience: five years
• Desired: Master of Science (preferred in Nursing) and advanced nursing specialty certification.

Responsabilités

• Supports and enforces current hospital clinical and administrative policies and procedures, JCAHO standards, CT State Department of Health Codes, and other state and federal legislation/law.
• Reports all unusual occurrences to the Administrator on Call and documents as appropriate.
• Coordinates all nursing units with respect to schedules, assignments, and quality of care on a 24 hour basis (with Nurse Managers) and documents as appropriate.
• Counsels employees in priority-setting and problem-solving and makes referrals to appropriate resources with documentation.
• Participates in follow-up/support during clinical orientation/education.
• Uses knowledge and experience to continuously contribute to the development of nursing department goals and objectives.
• Supplements and/or obtains supplies, equipment, medications, and/or medical records, etc. to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care.
• Observes and supports a safe working environment and reports concerns/issues to Safety Officer and/or Infection Control Coordinator.
• Strives to work within the budgetary limits and within organizational cost guidelines.
• Demonstrates effective human relation skills that promote and maximize communication with patients, families, the healthcare team, and the community.
• Ensures compliance with the Union contract.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
