Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia, is seeking a patient care teammate to support nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will help with admission, transfer, discharge, vital signs, hygiene, and patient comfort, contributing to a safe and efficient care environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS within 30 days. Prior patient care experience is preferred, and duties include a mix of clinical and administrative tasks

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures; records intake and outputs.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and safeguard patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures according to department procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN, such as poor appetite or diet changes.
• Performs administrative tasks to support department operations and answers patient call bells.
