Job summary

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic ICT Technician to join our friendly ICT team, delivering day-to-day technical support and helping to maintain and improve our ICT infrastructure for staff and elected Members.

You will gain exposure to modern cloud technologies, cybersecurity, networking, and digital transformation initiatives while contributing to secure, reliable, and responsive technology services across the council.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting ICT hardware and software.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Council locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line technical support to users across the organisation.
  • Install, configure and support desktop PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers and peripheral equipment.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services and associated applications.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of servers, storage, networking and communications systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity issues.
  • Support cyber security initiatives and ensure good security practices are maintained.
  • Assist with system upgrades, technology refresh programmes and ICT projects.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and asset information.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors and third-party support providers where required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ICT services and processes.

Job description

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused ICT Technician to join our friendly and professional ICT team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ICT professional looking to develop their career across a broad range of technologies while supporting the delivery of high-quality services to Council staff and elected Members.

As an ICT Technician, you will provide day-to-day technical support, assist with maintaining and improving the Council's ICT infrastructure, and support the delivery of technology projects. The role offers exposure to modern cloud technologies, cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, telephony and digital transformation initiatives.

Working as part of a small but highly skilled team, you will play a key role in ensuring the Council's technology services remain secure, reliable and responsive to customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first and second-line technical support to users across the organisation.
  • Install, configure and support desktop PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers and peripheral equipment.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services and associated applications.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of servers, storage, networking and communications systems.

Physical Requirements and Travel

This role includes hands-on deployment, installation and support of ICT equipment across Council locations. Duties will involve setting up and moving desktop PCs, monitors, laptops, printers, telephony equipment and associated peripherals, together with assisting with office moves, technology refresh programmes and new system deployments.

The post holder must be able to transport equipment between locations and will require a full UK driving licence. The role will involve regular travel between EEBC sites and may require travel to locations across the future East Surrey Council area as Local Government Reorganisation progresses., Flexible and hybrid working arrangements where operationally appropriate.
