Job summary

City of Howell is seeking an Ice Resurfacer Operator/Site Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the Fire and Ice Depot District during assigned shifts. You will operate the ice resurfacer to maintain a high-quality surface for public skating, programs, and events.

The role provides day-to-day direction to part-time staff, handles customer inquiries, enforces safety protocols, and coordinates with maintenance. Must be 18+, hold a valid license, and be available for flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Previous experience operating an ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni) or similar equipment preferred; training may be provided.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support daily operations of the Fire and Ice Depot District during assigned shifts.
• Provide day-to-day direction, assignments, and support to part-time staff.
• Serve as the primary on-site contact during assigned operating hours.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, facility checks, and required reporting.
• Enforce facility rules and safety protocols; provide excellent customer service.
• Monitor staff activities to ensure city policies and safety procedures are followed.
• Respond to emergencies per city procedures and assist with facility maintenance as needed.
