AmeriCorps & Senior Corps is seeking a VISTA member to help GOALS expand an accessible community ice rink in Anaheim and surrounding Orange County. GOALS Success Through Service is a VISTA project that strengthens the organization’s capacity to create an accessible community ice rink for underserved youth in Anaheim and surrounding Orange County communities. The VISTA member will help GOALS build sustainable systems that support the long-term success of the project. This includes developing a funding system with qualified prospects, a 12-month calendar, grant and sponsorship resources, and staff procedures. The member will also help build a community ice rink partner network by identifying organizations, creating outreach tools, and supporting staff in introductory meetings. In addition, the VISTA will develop a community‑engagement strategy and feedback system to gather survey responses, focus-group input, and stakeholder interviews, then use that information to identify barriers to ice hockey participation and recommend ways to strengthen facility planning, outreach, and long‑term sustainability.
AmeriCorps member(s) will help GOALS build the systems needed to launch and sustain an accessible community ice rink. They will develop a funding‑development system by identifying and organizing qualified grant and sponsorship prospects, creating a funding calendar, and preparing reusable grant and sponsorship materials. They will also help build a community ice rink partner network by researching and mapping potential partners, creating outreach tools, and supporting staff with meeting materials and follow‑up procedures. In addition, they will develop a community‑engagement strategy and feedback system by creating surveys, interview tools, and data‑collection procedures to identify barriers to ice hockey participation and inform facility planning and long‑term sustainability.
