Oak View Group's PPL Center in Allentown seeks an Ice Crew member to perform general labor, including ice maintenance, rink equipment repairs, and event conversions. You will work at the PPL Center, with responsibilities spanning ice quality control, installation, and maintenance tasks.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to use power tools, and willingness to work long irregular hours, including nights and weekends. This is a part‑time hourly position.

Qualifications

• Experience with ice maintenance and rink equipment preferred.
• Must be able to use power tools.
• Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
• Comfort working in very cold or very hot conditions for extended periods.
• Able to stand, bend, climb stairs/ladders, and stoop for extended periods.
• Read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Able to work long irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Maintain and repair rink equipment (Zamboni, dasher system, subfloor, tempered glass, etc.).
• Work with the facilities team to ensure optimal ice conditions for events.

Position Summary

Ice Crew will perform general labor duties as assigned. Duties included but were not limited to building conversions for various events and familiarity with all aspects of facility operations and maintenance in addition to ice making, ice maintenance, and repair. This position is based at the PPL Center.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $14.00.

This position will remain open until December 31, 2026.

About The Venue

PPL Center is a state‑of‑the‑art multipurpose venue in downtown Allentown, PA. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region's largest event venue. The amenities‑packed PPL Center, which includes more than 50 premium spaces (suites, loges, and party areas) depending on the event, will host more than 150 events each year, offering something for everyone, including the Phantoms, the AHL affiliate to the NHL Philadelphia Flyers; concerts; family shows; trade shows; youth sports; high school and collegiate events; Disney on Ice; conferences; graduations; and many more events. PPL Center is currently the main catalyst to the revitalization and growth of downtown Allentown.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for occasional maintenance and repair of rink equipment, to include, but limited to: Zamboni, dasher system, subfloor, tempered glass, acrylic glass, safety netting, Jet Ice systems, edgers, goal nets, etc.
• Work with the facilities department to provide optimal ice conditions for all ice events.
• Support aspects of ice installation and removal.
• Assist the operations department to expedite event conversions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with ice maintenance/repair and rink equipment is a plus.
• Must be able to use power tools.
• Solid understanding of OSHA rules and regulations.
• Must be comfortable working in very cold or very hot conditions for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to stand, bend, climb stairs/ladders, and stoop for extended periods of time.
• Ability to adhere to building policies and event requirements.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively with other team members and leaders.
• Must be able to work long irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
