Job description

Sugar Mama Desserts of Milpitas, California makes 100+ flavors of all‑natural ice cream using the best locally and globally sourced ingredients. We offer classic and unique flavors, from Signature Strawberry with a half pound of organic strawberries to Black Sesame Brittle and Saffron rosewater pistachio. Our flagship store at Milpitas Square features a rotating menu of seasonal gourmet flavors and in‑house fresh‑baked goods.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and maintaining sanitary conditions while serving and preparing food

Store Responsibilities

• Greet customers and offer samples
• Receive orders, scoop ice cream or prepare desserts, and serve customers in a positive, friendly manner while maintaining correct portioning standards
• Act as brand ambassadors for Sugar Mama Desserts and promote store and catering events
• Prepare, cut, and bake ingredients for ice cream making and catering
• Make and bake treats such as cookies, hot cocoa bombs, and other desserts (training provided)
• Perform general cleaning, including restroom, dishwashing, and restocking supplies

Catering Responsibilities

• Pack, load, and unload catering supplies in the van
• Carpool to catering sites in the East Bay, Peninsula, SF, and other locations; mileage reimbursed
• Set up, serve, and break down the ice cream cart and sundae bar
• Provide warm, friendly catering service
• Wash and clean catering equipment after ice‑cream socials

Farmers Market Responsibilities

• Sample, sell, and scoop ice cream at the Sunnyvale Farmers Market booth
• Set up and break down the booth
• Perform heavy lifting up to 40 pounds and stand 7–8 hours per shift
• Regular access to car preferred (not required)
• Must be able to work 3–4 Saturdays per month

Shift and Availability Requirements

Availability to work opening shifts (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and closing shifts (4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on weekdays; 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. on weekends). Any time off must be approved by a manager at least two weeks in advance. Employees must have reliable transportation and be able to work a minimum of three days per week.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift between 10 and 40 pounds, work on one’s feet for 7–8 hours per day, and perform general food preparation and cleaning tasks.

Salary

$17.20 – $17.40 per hour plus earned tips.
