Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a coding quality reviewer to conduct inpatient and outpatient coding reviews, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and maintaining up-to-date coding guidelines.

Under supervision, you will assign ICD-10/CPT codes, support accurate medical billing, resolve coding questions, and review EPIC queues to ensure complete documentation across departments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Fundamental understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong customer service acumen and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, interprets, and assigns diagnostic and procedural codes based upon medical record documentation according to correct coding principles.
• Provides skilled technical work in documentation and coding for medical billing, abstracts complex patient data from records using ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Works coding-related charge review and claim edits to ensure timely and accurate billing.
• Researches and resolves coding issues and assists in meeting productivity and quality standards.
• Verifies charge entry and physician notes for completeness and proper documentation.
• Reviews medical records and charge fee information from patient care areas.
• Contacts facilities to obtain records needed to bill for services rendered.
• Reviews EPIC queues and correct coding edits.
• Codes diagnosis and procedures using classification coding systems.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
