Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) is seeking a field tester/inspector to perform complex field testing and inspection of construction materials to verify conformance with construction plans and specifications.

You will test soils, asphalt, and concrete, prepare detailed field reports, evaluate site conditions, and communicate with clients, contractors, and technical staff. The role requires High School diploma, ICC certifications in soils, masonry, or reinforced concrete (or EI with experience),

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• ICC Certifications in soils, structural masonry, or reinforced concrete are required.
• Or an Engineering Intern (EI) with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1 is required.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Must be able to travel to job sites and lift up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performing field materials testing of soil, asphalt, and concrete.
• Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all test results and observations.
• Performing basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and preparing reports of results.
• Evaluating site conditions on construction projects and providing recommendations.
• Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering staff regarding construction issues.

Who we are looking for:

What you’ll be doing:

What you need to have:

• ICC Certifications in soils, structural masonry, or reinforced concrete are required
• Or an Engineering Intern (EI) with at least 1 year of relevant experience
• ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability toread and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing through routine reports and correspondence.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written.
• Must be able to work independently and within teams to achieve goals.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 70 lbs. on a continual basis in all weather conditions.
• Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record.
• Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required.
• Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this position.
